1948 TOPPS MAGIC PHOTO VINTAGE BASKETBALL CARDS

(BACK TO MAIN)

The 1948 topps magic photo basketball cards are really really small cards (like an inch by 3/4 of an inch) that you developed yourself by making the active side of the card wet (e.g., by licking it) and letting it dry in the sun for 30 minutes.  Because people varied the amount of saliva they put on the cards and the amount of time they were left in the sun, it is hard to find a nicely developed card.  They are usually more underdeveloped then they are overdeveloped (which I think may be impossible with these).  I will try and get a set list together.  If I remember correctly, there were two sets of the cards.  An album was also produced for the cards.  The cards were not limited to basketball.  In fact, only a handful of the cards are basketball.  Others depict baseball, football, and celebrities. See the below advertising sheet for more information about the set. This set is also commonly referred to as Hocus Focus (instead of Topps Magic Photo).
