1906 Hickeys Strip
These cards came to my attention in 2004. It is a 1906 strip from Hickeys Deparment Stores. The strip is made out of a very thin paper and has about 10-15 player images. Two of these images are of basketball players. Translation: If you consider the players on the Hickey’s Strip “cards,” then this would be the first player-specific basketball card in existence (coolness). I know of only 3 and I know that 2 of these 3 came from the same seller. My copy is available in the “store” section of this webpage. Why am I selling it? Because, I mainly want some interesting items in my store and also because I could use the money to buy a bunch of other things. Also, because I lean on the side that the strip is not a card (so it doesn’t fit into my collection). Someone needs to do research on the two players on the strip (after which … maybe I will change my mind and keep the strip).
